LOCAL MP PRAISES NEW ACCOMODATION FOR THE ELDERLY

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Tue 8th Apr 2008

Local MP Paul Burstow officially opened a new private sheltered housing scheme on Friday (4/4/08).

The scheme Hampton Lodge in Cavendish Road was built and run by Churchill Retirement Living.

Speaking after the event, Mr Burstow said:

"With more older people living longer and staying fitter schemes like Hampton Lodge are needed.

"The aim is to enable older people to lead an independent life. Sheltered housing does that by offering the security of your own front door and home but not all the pressures of looking after a house."
