Paul Burstow, MP for Sutton and Cheam, congratulated the members of the Sutton United Supporters Club on Saturday, as they donated £500 in proceeds from their New Year raffle to premature baby charity Tommys.
Mr Burstow met with the Supporters Club to celebrate the success of their New Year raffle, which raised enough money to enable them to donate £500 to Tommys. The Supporters Club has 150 members and helps by stocking the shop, providing programmes for games and running coaches to away games.
Sutton United currently play in the Conference South, but hope to reach the playoffs to enter the Conference this year. They were branded the 'Giantkillers of the 20th Century" after becoming the last non-League team to beat a top flight opposition, when they beat Coventry City in the 3rd Round of the FA cup in January 1989
Commenting after , Paul Burstow MP said:
"The Supporters Club do a great job to make sure that United's fans are able to support the team effectively."
"I'm delighted to see that the Supporters Club has raised enough money to be able to make this donation to Tommy's - I'm sure it will be well appreciated."
