Burstow supports Guardian campaign to save neonatal unit11.09.44am UTC (GMT +0000) Wed 18th May 2005 Commenting on the Sutton Guardian's campaign to save the neonatal unit at St Helier, Paul Burstow said: "The threat to the neonatal unit at St Helier was one of the reasons that I opposed the plans to downgrade the hospital in the first place . With a higher than average number of premature and low weight babies being born in the St Helier area, closing this service would put lives at risk. "It is worrying that local NHS bosses are taking such crucial decisions despite the fact that the question of where a new hospital should be built is now subject to review by the Department of Health. It is wrong for the decisions by Ministers to be pre-judged in this way. I support the Guardian's campaign to safeguard this important unit."
