Government Must Show Committment to NHS Dentistry

11.48.02am BST (GMT +0100) Fri 16th Jul 2004

Paul Burstow MP, Liberal Democrat Shadow Health Secretary, commenting on the announcement of Government plans for the future of NHS dentistry, said:

"For seven years the Government has promised to fix NHS dentistry, but in that time more and more people have found it harder to find an NHS dentist.

"The crisis in NHS dentistry was started by a botched Conservative central contract, but Labour's neglect has made matters worse.

"The Government must demonstrate their commitment to NHS dentistry by showing they have plans to end the current exodus of dentists from the NHS."
