Ambulance Delays May Stop People Getting The Right Care

4.30.00pm UTC (GMT +0000) Wed 16th Jun 2004

Figures out today show that almost two-thirds of England's ambulance services are failing to meet government targets for fast responses to 999 calls.

Commenting, Paul Burstow MP, Liberal Democrat Shadow Health Secretary, said:

"These figures show there is still a long way to go before the NHS is able to deliver a truly first class service.

"Non-life threatening ambulance attendance times need to improve because these delays can still result in people not getting the right care, at the right time and in the right place."
