Burstow calls on local people to nominate their "Flood Heroes"

Published on Tue 9th Oct 2007

Local MP Paul Burstow is calling on local people to help him find Sutton and Cheam's 'Flood Hero' after the floods this summer. The competition winner will attend a reception given by the Department for Communities and Local Government later in the year.

Mr Burstow is asking local people to write to him to nominate their hero from the floods.

Speaking about the competition, Paul Burstow MP said:

"At times of crisis, our emergency services always rise to the challenge.

"But it is often 'ordinary' people who perform the most heroic feats.

"When our area was flooded, many people told me about the friends and neighbours who went above and beyond to help others.

"This competition is an opportunity to recognise these extraordinary people."
